Clemson's Watkins ACC Rookie of the Year

Clemson wide receiver Sammy Watkins has been named the ACC Rookie of the Year by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. Watkins had 43 of the 45 votes in becoming Clemson's first ACC Rookie of the Year since James Davis in 2005.

Clemson Tries to Add Tombstone vs. Hokies

CLEMSON, S.C. (WOLO) -- Clemson will try to win its first ACC championship since 1991 on Saturday when the Tigers face 5th ranked Virginia Tech. Clemson defeated the Hokies 23-3 on October 1 in Blacksburg.

Clemson Leads All-ACC Selections

Five Clemson players were named first-team All-ACC, including four on the offensive side of the ball according to the all-conference team released by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday. Clemson had five first-team players, more than any other school, and nine selections over the two teams, also more than any other school.

Gamecocks Fall to Penn State 55-50

Penn State escaped Colonial Life Arena with a 55-50 victory in women’s basketball action Sunday afternoon. The Gamecocks led much of the game, including an eight-point margin in the final six minutes, before the Lady Lions’ frontcourt wore them down. Nine of junior Ashley Bruner’s career-high 18 rebounds came on the offensive end, and junior Ieasia Walker added 15 points and five steals to the Gamecocks’ solid team effort.

South Carolina took advantage of ball movement on offense and aggressive defense to earn a 65-48 win over Clemson in women’s basketball action at Littlejohn Coliseum Thursday night.

Andre Young scored 19 points, Tanner Smith had a career-high 14 rebounds and Clemson won its 27th straight season opener with a 65-44 victory over Gardner-Webb on Friday night. The game was tied at 29 at halftime, but the Tigers pulled away from the Bulldogs (0-1) in the second half behind the play of their senior backcourt duo of Young and Smith.

Local Athletes Sign Basketball Letter of Intent

Irmo stand-out, Jordan Roper will play basketball next season with Clemson. Roper is a 6-foot guard with 1,219 career points. Roper, who was the Midland's 4A player of the year in 2011, led his Irmo team last season to a 27-3 record and a 4A state championship.
