Hurricane Irma

A very powerful hurricane is swirling out in the Atlantic. A lot of folks (especially on social media) are talking a lot about how this storm will threaten the United States. So could this storm hit the U.S.? Yes. But it’s really important to know that there is very little skill forecasting where a storm will be more than 5 days out. This storm is at least 10 days away, and that’s if it were to travel fairly quickly and directly at us. At this point Hurricane Irma is around 2500 miles from the our coast and 5 days from now (next Wednesday), it’ll still be roughly 1400 miles from our coast. So please continue to stay tuned and we’ll update you every day. But for now, there’s no point in getting worked up about something that is too far in the future for any reasonable prediction.
