Bank Teller Accused of Funneling Thousands Into Personal Accounts

BAMBERG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO) – A bank teller in Bamberg is accused of stealing almost $300,000 between 2013 and 2015.

Jennifer Lyons Martin, 34, of Ehrhardt, was a vault teller at a South State Bank branch in Bamberg when a 2015 audit discovered $100,000 was missing.

Authorities say Martin had two personal checking accounts and four savings accounts at South State that she funneled the money into and used almost all of it on restaurants, shopping, travel, and living expenses.

She plead guilty to theft by a bank employee faces 30 years in prison and a fine of $1,000,000.
