Man Who Shot 2 Neighbors Found Dead Inside Orangeburg Co. Home
ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)- The suspect who shot two of his neighbors in Orangeburg on Saturday, later shot and killed himself.
Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said at approximately 1:30 p.m. Orangeburg County Sheriff’s SWAT team members entered a Sorin Court residence with the goal of subduing a possible active shooter. The results of that entry was the discovery of an individual who appeared to have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The OCSO as well as multiple agencies in the surrounding area responded to the neighborhood northeast of Elloree after reports of two neighbors of the individual inside the home were shot.
The two Sorin Court residents were transported to an area hospital after suffering from gunshot wounds sustained when a neighbor opened fire on them.
Ravenell said OCSO deputies were called to the residence just before noon on Saturday where they learned there was some type of previous contact.
The sheriff said a Sorin Court man had spoken to neighbors on Friday. The next day for an unknown reason, the man opened fire on the two residents.
Ravenell said the man then retreated into his home after the shooting. Neighbors living in the area were evacuated after OCSO deputies arrived.
The investigation is ongoing at this point.
